Local Beetle fs by an actual VW person; (nice background!) Price is $3500.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!

It needs saving and I’m debating about stepping up. I’ve got the time, room, a reasonable amount of $$. I want to avoid heavy bodywork or welding in pans and heaterchannels..

I don’t actually mind the current patina, but it would probably end up getting painted eventually.

I’ve asked for interior/engine/pan photos.

58-59 are my favorite years. I would check the status of the VIN though. Also keep in mind some of the correct parts for those two years are getting harder to find.

Also, the asking price is about twice what I would expect for a non runner, with no title. Anything over $1800 would be steep.

I’ve been looking for a big window 64-66 myself for quite a few years. I’ve passed up others because they were too far gone.

This one is nice because it’s a vw owner who is thinning his collection.

In Canada the deluxe wasn’t available so I’m thinking this is a US car. Std and Custom were the Canadian levels.

Ah, in Canadian dollars the price is a little less silly. However I’m surprised it was already off the road by the mid 70s. Mechanical issues?

What’s the definition of “good” for the channels and pans ? Also, bill of sale means no actual title ? $3,500 is a bit steep, in this case.

I would expect ‘good’ to mean solid, in a message he confirmed. Complete other than the rear bumper, right signal, and air filter off the 36hp 1200 (!hard to find!).

This one has been sitting at a farm in the Okanagan since 1978.

Here are the other pics;

It does look solid, and original. I’m a little concerned about finding the parts it needs still. It has potential as a long term project for sure.

There is a process for registering it in BC - it’s straight forward and a bit easier because this one was obviously registered in the Province before. But not until it’s ready for an inspection.

It’s a cool bug, don’t misunderstand me, and more power to you if you take on the challenge and save it.

$3,600, even CDN, is still steep. Unmaintained for the past 40 years, it shows all sort of surface rust everywhere that could as well reveal into structural rust once you dig into it.

I’d show you pics of my ‘69 currently being brought back to life, after getting too cozy for too long with the northern midwestern US rust, if Kinja let me...

Well, I’ve been looking for my own aircooled since riding around with vw club guys back in 2003.. since then I’ve always been searching for my own. I’ve been close to saving some others; 71 fasty, 63,65,66,69 beetles, 71 Ghia vert..

I’ve got the space, time, and effort to save one..
